JC Lodge - Reggae Country 2
Although she’d already taken a trip into the realms of country music with her 1980 version of ‘Someone Loves You Honey’, it wasn’t till the 2002 ‘Reggae Country’ album that JC Lodge established herself as the foremost exponent of reggae music with a country swing.
Two years later and one of reggae’s most enduring female vocalists is back with the follow-up set, ‘Reggae Country II’. As with its predecessor, the album was produced in Jet Star’s own Cave studios and features the production talents of Danny Ray alongside the incomparable A Team of UK reggae musicians led by Mafia and Fluxy.
Sixteen tracks in length, JC has chosen anthem after anthem of classic country, even calling in Don Campbell to duet on their version of ‘Islands In the Stream’, made famous by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. Other highlights include Gary Allan’s ‘Nothing On But the Radio’, a seductive version of Lorna Bennett's ‘Breakfast In Bed’ and a swooning take on the Elvis classic ‘Love Me Tender’.
